Spider-Man's first appearance in Amazing Fantasy #15 was an overnight sensation, leading to a hurriedly prepared solo title from co-creators Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. (Marvel still brought in the top-selling Fantastic Four on the cover as insurance.) The book remains one of the cornerstones of comic collecting--featuring the first appearance of J. Jonah Jameson as one of the most iconic supporting characters in the history of comics. The book is also notable for including The Chameleon as Spidey’s first supervillain. The shape-shifting spy has been one of the major missing figures in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and is finally set to make his big-screen debut in this year’s Kraven the Hunter film.

This is the highest graded of only 9 CGC copies (1/500th the U.S. total of 4,521) and this is the first time we've ever offered a copy. El Sorprendente Hombre Araña #1 (La Prensa, Jun 1963) was published only three months after the American release making it the most contemporaneous foreign SA key.

Fewer than 20 total copies are known in U.S. & Latin America so this piece has been famously elusive in Spanish collector circles since publication. This Summer, fans will be celebrating the book's 60th anniversary.

A non-canon issue #128 of the same title sold for $15,600 on Oct 2, 2022.
