Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko art; 1st app/origin of Ant-Man (Henry Pym), Goliath, Giant-Man, & Yellowjacket.Heavily drawing upon the science fiction monster and giant bug movies that were so popular in the 1950s, Stan Lee and Jack Kirby created a character that would hearken back to those films. Here, we have the first appearance of Ant-Man. Henry Pym debuted in Tales to Astonish #27, where he wasn’t quite the same character we know today. Ant-Man wouldn’t acquire his iconic costume or origin until issue #35, but readers loved him all the same. This issue has been a crowd favorite among collectors for years but recently has seen an explosion in demand and value, due largely in part to the "Ant-Man" movies franchise in the MCU.
