Event Auction XXXVIII
Top Silver Age Highlights

First appearances and first issues predominate investment collection checklists and more than a few of those boxes can be filled in ComicConnect’s Event Auction #38. The Silver Age got off to a running start with Barry Allen’s debut as the Flash in Showcase #4, here a CGC 7.5. Arguably, few, if any of the comics listed on this page would exist if not for this important, milestone comic. Also from DC, Wonder Woman #98 CGC 8.0 is the nicest copy we’ve ever seen.

Marvel’s First Family made their first appearance in Fantastic Four #1 and the auction has a gorgeous example in a CGC 8.0 and a lovely CGC 4.5. Multiple copies of Spider-Man’s first appearance in Amazing Fantasy #15 in varying conditions are up for grabs alongside a couple of nice copies of Spidey’s first issue, one with Stan Lee’s autograph.

Incredible Hulk #1, first in an ultra-professionally restored high grade CBCS 9.8 comic and secondly, a beautiful universal label CGC 7.0 copy offer two choices for pragmatic investors. An Iron Man #2 CGC 9.9 is tied certified highest-graded. Plus, high-grade first appearances by Daredevil as well as Thor in Journey into Mystery round out the (mostly Marvel) Silver Age highlights.
