DARK TOWER: THE GUNSLINGER BORN (2007) Issue #7 Double Page Splash
VF: 8.0
The Susan Delgado DPS from book 7 of Dark Tower: Gunslinger Born (the 1st Dark Tower series) by Jae Lee, features the love of Roland's life proclaiming her undying devotion to him, moments before she is immolated (burned at the stake). This is one of the most beautiful images from the series, and depicts one of the most pivotal moments in the story. This piece shows Susan Delgado, tied to the Charyou Tree, in one of the most emotional moments of the series, as well as one of the most formative. Put simply, Roland would not become the Gunslinger we know were it not for this act and for his decision to choose pursuing the Dark Tower instead of saving his love (being burned for having saved him). Here, the love of Roland's life declares "Roland, I Love Thee!" one last time.

Modern day master Jae Lee composes the page with beautiful line work and his trademark eerie, somber yet dynamic imagery.

This work is from 2007's The Gunslinger Born, the first comic series, which was so successful it spawned (at least) 2008's The Long Road Home and Treachery, 2009's The Fall of Gilead, 2010's The Journey Begins and The Battle of Jericho Hill, 2011's The Battle of Tull and The Little Sisters of Eluria, and 2012's The Way Station.
