IRON MANUAL (1993) Issue #1 Cover
Publisher:
Marvel
Grade:
VF: 8.0
Leonardo da Vinci's "The Vetruvian Man" has been repurposed innumerable times in pop culture, a simple Google search will show everyone from Homer Simpson to Kermit the Frog splayed out in the iconic pose inside of a circle and a square. But the image has not often been used as effectively as this homage that adorns the cover to issue #1 of "The Iron Manual."

"The Iron Manual" is a unique comic book in the sense that is does not tell a story, instead it offers an in-depth study of Tony Stark's armor, covering all iterations of the famous suit that made Iron Man one of the most-popular characters in Marvel's stable. The cover art is by Bill Sienkiewicz, one of the incredible talents in Marvel's stable, Sienkiewicz is known for his neo-abstract style and has won numerous awards in the comic art field for his signature illustrative approach. His work on this cover combines classical imagery and modern comic book art in perfect harmony. This is assuredly a piece that will demand serious attention from die-hard Iron Man fans.
