Marc Lasry CollectionIntended to be a one-off featuring Superboy, the Legion of Super-Heroes has gone on to become the focus of countless stories since its introduction. Adventure Comics #247 tells the tale of three time-traveling teenagers from the 30th century who are looking to recruit Superboy into their outfit. Cosmic Boy, Lightning Boy (later referred to as Lightning Lad), and Saturn Girl, sit with stern faces, claiming Clark Kent is "too ordinary" to join their group. The title story and accompanying statements by Cosmic Boy were just enough to entice young readers into finding out why Superboy was deemed so pedestrian. The curious plot-line in this issue would prove to become a benchmark for DC storytelling. The Legion returned several issues later for an encore and were adored by fans, subsequently, they appeared in issues of Action and Adventure Comics over the next few years. The continued success of the Legion proved that this story was not a throw-away Silver Age ploy, the group had staying power throughout the years, and most recently secured a reboot in the post-Infinite Crisis story line in 2007.
The Marc Lasry Collection boasts a full run of the Boy of Steel's exploits, no mean feat considering the rarity of many of the 1950s and early 1960s appearances of the character. This run of classic Adventure issues includes backup stories from Green Arrow and Aquaman, and is stuffed to the gills with rare appearances by collectible characters like Krypto and Supergirl. Plus, a slew of secondary keys like Speedy's origin, the first appearance of Beast Boy, and the first appearance of Timber Wolf. Far and away the highlight of the Lasry Adventure Comics collection is the simply astonishing Adventure 247, a bright, clean, crisp 8.5 copy of an avidly sought key which never, seriously never, turns up in condition like this.

Swan was a house artist at DC working on titles like Tommy Tomorrow, he began gravitating towards Superman and his related books, Superboy, World's Finest and Jimmy Olsen, he would eventually leave DC thanks to his personality issue with Editor In Chief Mort Weisinger. He would eventually return and go on to be the artist that defined the look of Superman in the Silver Age, eventually becoming the editor of the title, but after thirty years of keeping up standards of all things Superman, Swan was given the boot in favor of John Byrne's Superman reboot, Swan's comic work began to taper off after this dismissal and he eventually retired, but will forever be recognized as the Silver Age Superman's finest artist.
