FLASH COMICS 1940-49 #1
CGC G+: 2.5
One of the great legacy characters of comics history, this is the first appearance of the original Jay Garrick Flash, whose popular exploits carried him through to the end of the initial wave of Golden Age superheroes, and whose successor, Barry Allen, kicked off the Silver Age in high style. Collecting the Flash is like collecting superhero history itself, as the book has changed, developed, and adapted, more than any other franchise, to truly reflect the tenor of its times. Here, the Golden Age of comics is represented by Jay's muscular, can-do American spirit and moxie, as an all-American boy with brains and brawn becomes a hero not just through a fluke of science, but by his courage, good will, and cheer. Did we mention Hawkman?
Never before offered to the general public, these original owner comic books are freshly graded and ready for sale to an astute collector! The original owner purchased these directly from a local variety and drug store in South Carolina, using his personal allowance. He lovingly kept them for about 75 years, eventually in a safe deposit box, and decided recently it was time to let somebody else appreciate and admire these rare babies.
This copy presents as a higher-graded book, the colors are vibrant and the central image has great eye appeal. With the Fastest Man Alive jumping off the small screen into movie theaters in DC's Justice League, the sky is the limit for all things Flash, don't let this GA key zip away.
Overstreet Guide 2017 G+ (2.5) value = $18,750.
