ACTION COMICS-1938 #10
CGC VG-: 3.5
The first World War was seared into people's mass consciousness in the early 20th Century. Millions were traumatized by the unprecedented horrors and loss of life the war delivered in such a short time. This trauma explains the introversion the American public experienced concerning involvement in the new conflict brewing across Europe in the late 1930s. Comic covers like this, in which Superman seems angry at war as a concept rather than at war with any specific people, were common in the pre-Pearl Harbor days. The cover image is a far cry from the beefy, smiling patriot soon to grace post-Pearl Harbor DC covers, and still startles with its raw emotion and crude power. This is yet another extremely rare early Superman comic that commands top dollar on the Golden Age market.
Only 15 copies of this incredibly rare comic have been certified unrestored by CGC. We almost never see the book let alone at auction - you can throw away the guide on this one!
