1st appearance of Lex Luthor; 1st mention of Daily Planet; Joe Shuster cover/art
Action Comics #23 features the first appearance of
Lex Luthor, instantly making this issue one of
Superman's most collectible early titles. Luthor (who'd later make his first appearance without hair in the "Superman" daily newspaper strip) quickly gained a style all his own, and became one of the all-time great bad guys. That also had Luthor building a dedicated fanbase which has kept this issue among the rarest of Golden Age keys.

Despite a bit of foxing on the top and right, the bulk of this cover is in impressive condition, and the most important factor, the Man of Steel, remains completely free of any damage. The spine is solid and the colors retain their punch.
