Sheldon Moldoff cvr/art; Shelly's 1st Hawkman cvrHawkman was the secondary star in Flash Comics, and this issue showcases the first Shelly Moldoff cover illustration of the winged hero. Although the Flash often played second fiddle on covers of his own book, the character would continue to grow in popularity, the speedy superhero and his fellow JSA member, Hawkman would go on to expanded stardom in the Silver Age, and continue their popularity streak today in DC's Arrowverse.
Despite some chipping along the spine this comic is in admirable condition, the colors remain strong and the classic Moldoff cover design is clean and sharp.
Artist Information
Moldoff is best known for his early work on DC's Hawkman and Hawkgirl, and was one of Bob Kane's primary "ghost artists" on Batman. He co-created the Batman villains Poison Ivy, Mr. Freeze, the second Clayface, and Bat-Mite, as well as the original heroes Bat-Girl, Batwoman, and Ace the Bat-Hound.
