Before beginning his long and fruitful tenure at Classics Illustrated, Rudy Palais cut his teeth with the B-level publishers of the Golden Age, eventually becoming the cover artist for the Catman franchise, and this frontispiece for issue #25 shows the influence that such sci-fi-based titles like Planet Comics were having on the burgeoning industry. The misshapen and grotesque creature Catman battles with a welding torch stands in front of a strange contraption is typical of the monstrosities that populated the space operas of the era. The late issues of the run are some of the most difficult to find, and this issue is no exception. A popular entry in the history of this cult-favorite title in any event.

The multicolored background fades from red to yellow as it contrasts sharply with the sickly-green coloration of the creature featured on this bright and sharp cover. The only signs of wear and tear appear around the corners and spine of this book, so the titular hero at center and his foe survive the decades in stylish fashion. The book presents excellent eye appeal.
