BLACK CAT MYSTERY (1951-63) #50

CGC VF/NM: 9.0
This is one of the greatest classic covers of the Pre-Code Horror age, and one which was probably in no small way responsible for the induction of the Comics Code. The image of the radium melting this poor fellow's face and hands is the stuff of legend. Knowledgeable comic collectors and gore gobblers go mad for this book when it comes up for auction. Definitely one of the top horror covers in the history of the industry, this Lee Elias illustration cannot be unseen once viewed. Add in an uncredited Frank Frazetta contribution to this issue, and there is simply no denying the power of this comic.

This copy being in such an impressive VF/NM grade only makes it doubly desirable, as this comic is excruciatingly difficult to find in well-preserved condition.

Overstreet Guide 2019 VF/NM (9.0) value = $4,762.
