For Golden Age fans a book like this is a real find. When Carl Burgos created Prof. Phineas Horton's android The Human Torch, and Bill Everett swam the depths of his imagination to give us The Sub-Mariner, few could have guessed the impact they would have for generations to come. This issue features a 40 page Torch story, a Sub-Mariner tale, plus in a text piece the two characters debate who is the better artist: Burgos or Everett.
Despite their huge print runs, very few Timelys survive to this day, and the tendency of collectors to keep and treasure these rarities rather than flip them repeatedly makes them very tough to obtain in general. We know collectors of Golden Age hero books are going to love this copy, a simply beautiful VF/NM with deep blues and assertive reds. With the Fantastic Four slated to join the MCU in the near future, all things Torch will soon be due for a rise in value. An 8.5 copy of The Human Torch #3 sold for $8,700 in March 2023.

Overstreet Guide 2022 VF/NM (9.0) value = $10,112.
