Classic good girl gag from Ward, drawn in his beautiful pastel and white paint technique. Great gag, with a fantastic, large Ward Girl. The back has the Humorama stamp and several publishing dates, the earliest is from 1960. Mixed media. Art is in very good condition, Signed by Ward.
Artist Information
Ward is primarily known for his bawdy illustrations of busty women, his character Torchy enjoyed modest success in the late Golden Age. Ward was employed by Jack Binder at Fawcett in the beginning of his career where he worked on several hero stories like Bulletman and Black Owl, he later drew Blackhawk stories in MIlitary Comics. In the later stages of his career he achieved success working for more adult-themed publications from softcore books to Screw magazine. Ward did a one off in 2000 AD in 1977, a rather unique aside for the man known for his playful erotic imagery.
