Young Allies #2 is the kind of Golden Age wartime comic that easily tops the Want Lists of genre collectors. Envisioned as a sidekick team-up book, Bucky and Toro appear here without their adult companions Captain America and The Human Torch. This inspired marketing sold plenty of comics and continued to be a common trope in comics for decades to come.
The issue's classic Syd Shores cover is straight out of an Alex Schomburg fever dream as the Young Allies burst through a wall in a strange tank-like contraption (with Toro flying in to pitch a fireball). They're just in time, too, because a den of Nazis is preparing to brand a couple of their bound compatriots. Pure Golden Age mayhem!
