Known as the "The Henry Ford of the toy industry," Louis Marx built an empire that even thrived during the Great Depression. The company would frequently launch a toy with a licensed character, and later reintroduce the same toy without a branded name.
Louis Marx & Co. found early success with the Flash Gordon Sparkling Rocket Fighter Ship in 1939. This same toy would later be revamped into a more generic Rocket Ship, with the wings simply painted yellow.
