This was Timely's first attempt at an all-star super-hero team featuring Captain America, The Human Torch, and the Sub-Mariner. Marvel's Golden Age was at its peak during World War II and these characters were on the front-lines month after month, deservedly so. Cap would make a strong comeback in the early 60's and again with the release of Captain America: The First Avenger on the silver screen, where he remains a cornerstone of the Marvel Cinematic Universe today.
