A lot of the comic artists of the Golden Age would moonlight for rival publishing houses to earn a little extra money during the years after the Depression, which explains why many of the draftsmen involved in the creation of Smash Comics #10 employed pen names for their contributions to this fine comic. Will Eisner is credited as Will Erwin, George Brenner is Wayne Reid, George Tuska is Bud Thomas, and the list goes on. Additionally, Gill Fox, Paul Gustavson, and Vern Henkel help round out the bounty of GA artists who helped create this issue. The cover of this book almost seems to foreshadow the Underground Comix movement of the 1960s with its cartoonish Bozo the Robot design. Overall, this is a fun and interesting anthology mashup book which is very rare and appealing to the rabid collectors of comics from the pre-war era.

If you see the words Mile High pedigree in a description of an auction comic, you can almost certainly guarantee that the book will look as though it has been preserved in a time capsule and will present as a newly published comic. Oftentimes the book will also be extremely rare as well as the highest-graded example on the CGC census. These facts are all true about this scarce find, one of only ten recorded copies known, and a definite target for Golden Age investment book bidders. This impressive 9.2 comic with white pages is typical of the high quality of the Edgar Church/Mile High Collection — and easily ranks at the top of only 10 copies in the CGC Census!
