What doesn't this Golden Age comic have? There’s a boy superhero and his simian sidekick, a bunch of costumed kids tied up and about to be run over by a tank as demonic Japanese soldiers close in on them, and there’s even a dogfight thrown in for good measure (and let’s not forget the monkey contest?!). Talk about wartime covers, this Charles Biro illustration has packed enough action into the frame to make Alex Schomburg jealous. Boy Comics followed the adventures of one Chuck Chandler, aka Crimebuster, as he and his band of juvenile heroes battle the evil Iron Jaw, who has single-handedly orphaned the protagonist, leading to their ongoing feud. Biro’s Daredevil would become one of the most recognizable heroes of the era and his art and contributions to the comic book form were extremely important, earning him continued fandom in the modern day.

This is a mighty appealing copy of an extremely rare and amazingly well-preserved. Third-highest graded of only a small sampling of copies on the census, this is guaranteed to be a very desirable target for collectors of a certain stripe. The yellows are bright, the blacks are solid and inky, and the overall presentation of this comic is incredible considering its vintage and scarcity. This impressive comic is typical of the high quality of the Edgar Church/Mile High Collection — with only 2 books ranked higher in the 12 copies found in the CGC Census!
