The Golden Age of Comics really got going once the US entered into WWII, although Wonderworld Comics #30 was published a few months before the attack on Pearl Harbor, war was already in the air thanks to news coming from overseas about the Nazi threat, as well as developments with other Axis powers. The thrilling cover of this issue shows The Flame melting his way through a piece of metal armor as he charges into battle against a couple of Nazi thugs. This issue also presents the premiere of The Flame-Girl, a newly minted sidekick for the main protagonist.

Jon Berk has earned himself a place in the storied history of comics by amassing a collection of some of the rarest comics of the Golden Age so that future generations would be able to enjoy these obscure treasures for years to come. Many of his books have become high-value targets in the marketplace thanks to their scarcity and condition. This copy of Wonderworld Comics #30 bears no significant signs of wear and the colors are bursting off the page, add in stark white interior pages for a true humdinger of a GA classic. This impressive Near Mint 9.4 book is typical of the high quality of the Edgar Church/Mile High Collection, as preserved by comics historian Jon Berk — and easily ranks at the top of only 14 copies in the CGC Census!
