In the debut issue of Spider-Man, Lee and company hedged their bets by placing the Fantastic Four front and center to attract new readers to an unproven title. What a difference a year makes, when the new megastar on the block relegates the veteran Torch to guest-star status. The comic boasts a classic cover that appealed directly to the new youth market, which was already influencing pop culture with their hard-earned allowance money.
