Black Buccaneer cover
This copy of Blazing Comics #5 sports interior pages that repackage an unsold copy of 1951's Detective Comics #168, featuring the long-awaited origin of comic books' most infamous villain, The Joker! "The Man Behind the Red Hood" (written by Batman co-creator Bill Finger) also features the 1st appearance of The Red Hood, who'd become a major DC character over the decades after first being revealed as an early alias for the future Joker.
This extremely rare oddity is sure to attract the interest of top collectors, and is so rare that it rates an 8 on the Gerber rarity scale, with an estimate of only 11-20 copies in existence. (Unsold copies of comics such as Detective Comics, Modern Love, and Haunt of Fear were among the titles that would have a new Blazing cover wrapped around the pages, with a generic copyright date of 1945 for this "buccaneer" cover.) This issue is a true find with the contents of Detective Comics #168, providing an amazingly unique presentation for one of the most important stories in comics history!
