1976 Reprint mechanical with paste-up and inkwork by Albert DeGuzman; 7.5" x 11.25"Looking across the visual sea of comic book covers one can always harken back to one singular image. Joe Shuster and Jerry Siegel's massively iconic Man Of Steel hurling a green 1937 Plymouth sedan into a boulder has forever changed pop culture. This, and the pages within, would shape the way we view what it means to be hero. A series of imitators would follow and become icons in their own right, but it all comes back to this, Action Comics numero uno.
The original art and production notes of this historic comic are forever lost to the annals of history. Collectors will never be able to own any of the original art from Action Comics 1. In the 1970s Albert Deguzman was tasked by DC to painstakingly recreate the original art. The story goes, DC purchased a near-mint copy of Action 1 and sliced it up for reference use, they really did that! Inked recreations, color guides, and mechanicals were all made from the original copy to create the new edition. From these production pieces, DC was able produce the reprints that so many of us had the opportunity to cherish, just as the youth of 1938 once did. Celebrate these articles of faith and hold high the modern-day mythology!
Art is in excellent condition.
