Sol Brodsky Captain America, bondage, torture machine, skeleton, WWII Japanese cvr
USA Comics #14 continues Captain America's reign as the book's proper star, with plenty more superheroes filling out the issue. Sal Brodsky's wild cover still gets a lot of credit for making this book a real favorite for Golden Age collectors. Cap bravely faces down a ghoulish creature manning a Japanese torture device, with poor Bucky set to be decapitated. The contents are just as classic, with Cap and Bucky off to India to protect a mysterious idol in "The Riddle of the Stolen Buddha," while the Whizzer stays closer to home to face the bizarre threat of "The Death Singer!"
