Batman #121 bears the distinction of containing the first appearance of Mr. Zero, aka Mr. Freeze. The name change was made thanks to the campy Batman TV series that took the world by storm in the 1960s, and the character would re-appear, with his new moniker, in Detective Comics #373. He would go on to become one of Batman's most popular villains, appearing in cartoons, films, and even video games to spin his tragic tale of love on ice. Also of note: A full-page ad for Flash #105, featuring the first appearance of Mirror Master.

First appearances of major villains in Batman’s rogues gallery are some of the most sought-after books in the series’ run, and the premiere of Mr. Zero (aka Mr. Freeze) is no exception. The backstory of this chilling criminal imbued the character with a sense of tragedy and made him an important figure in the Batman mythology. This issue is a key of the late Golden Age, which remains a high target book for Bat-fans at auction. Boasting bright colors and a clean central image, this is a very attractive copy of a perennial favorite. As there are only a few copies graded higher than this one on the CGC boards, we expect it to be a hot item in EA #62.
