Robert Crumb pencils and inks; illustration; 1977; image size 8" x 9"Crumb's classic 1971 story 'Whiteman Meets Bigfoot' from Home Grown Funnies #1 inspired television commercial director, and Crumb acquaintance Boyd Jacobson to expand the story into a feature film, The script extended the story to feature length with Crumb providing new drawings to illustrate the additions. Sadly the project never came to fruition, but this drawing is one of its remnants. This drawing, of the titular 'Whiteman' provides a description of his, very Crumb-like, characteristics and has all of the hallmarks of a classic Crumb drawing. R. Crumb was the father of the 1960s Underground COmix movement and is considered one of the most important artists of the 20th century, both in comics and in the larger art community. Pen and ink on vellum. Art is in excellent condition. Signed by Crumb.
