After two issues of showcasing Golden Age heroes, All Star Comics #3 contributed even more to comics history by featuring the origin and first appearance of the Justice Society of America. The official date is November 22nd, 1940, as the heroes get together to each tell a story about their most exciting adventure. By the time that they're done, the FBI is asking for assistance and we're looking at the formation of the first-ever superhero team.

This historic gathering would eventually lead to the creation of the Justice League, the Avengers, the X-Men, and more. The book's classic cover by E.E. Hibbard showcases these pioneering Golden Age heroes, featuring the Atom, Sandman, Spectre, Flash, Hawkman, Dr. Fate, Green Lantern, and Hour Man. (Johnny Thunder also attends, but he wasn't really invited.)

This colorful All Star Comics #3 has been professionally restored in this beautiful 9.4 copy from the True North Collection — with moderate work that still perfectly preserves all the original impact of the comics' first super team!
