John Buscema pencils and inks; back cover w/prelim (2 pieces); 2000; image size 4.25" x 8.5" ea.Great back cover to Marvel's collection of the first 25 issues of Conan the Barbarian, including Buscema's first issue as artist. Wonderful image of Conan riding off with a maiden he most likely just rescued. Pen and ink. Art is in excellent condition.
Also included is Buscema's pencil preliminary drawing for the cover.
Artist Information
'The Michelangelo of comics.' Buscema was one of the mainstays of Marvel Comics during its 1960s and 1970s heyday, best known for his run on the The Avengers and The Silver Surfer, and for over 200 stories featuring the sword-and-sorcery hero Conan the Barbarian. In addition, he penciled at least one issue of nearly every major Marvel title, including long runs on two of the company's top books, Fantastic Four and Thor.
