Nestor Redondo and Redondo Studios pencils and inks; page 1; 1978; image size 10" x 15"Stunning splash from the story 'Monster From a Thousand Fathoms' by Redondo with his studio (founded by Nestor and his brother Frank), featuring a gargantuan man-eating octopus attacking a group of mutinous sailors and their captain, which was just the sort of monstrous fare that thrilled readers of the popular horror anthology. Redondo studios' skill is evident in the fine detail of the octopus as well as the elements of the ship where the action takes place. Pen and ink. Art is in excellent condition.
Artist Information
Nestor Redondo was a Filipino comics artist best known for his work for DC Comics, Marvel Comics, and other American publishers in the 1970s and early 1980s. In his native country, the Philippines, he is best known for co-creating the superheroine Darna. His American work is exemplified by his contributions to DC titles including House of Secrets, The Phantom Stranger, Secrets of Sinister House, The Unexpected, Weird War Tales, The Witching Hour, as well as following Bernie Wrightson on Swamp Thing.
