Published just a few months before the US entered into WWII, Stars and Stripes #3 is a Golden Age anthology filled to bursting with all sorts of wartime heroics. The action-packed issue features a parade of eccentric heroes of the sort that helped Centaur Publications become a niche genre for collectors of GA comics. Featured players include MiniMidget, Iron Skull, Amazing-Man, the premiere of Dr. Synthe, as well as a character named The Black Panther. For those who have affection for the more bizarre offerings of wartime comics, this book has plenty of the kinds of chills, thrills, and spills that collectors of the era swoon over.

Seeing as how this is an Edgar Church/Mile High copy of Stars and Stripes #3, it should come as no surprise that this is the highest-graded copy on the census. The preservation of this issue is extraordinary, save for a slight shadow on the bottom of the cover, this copy looks as though it was printed yesterday. Typical of the pedigree, the book boasts blazing bright colors, a complete lack of wear, and stable construction from the corners to the spine. With less than ten copies on the census, bidding for this book should be intense, as copies seldom surface at auction.
