RARE RARE RARE/last issue (1/42)Created by Lou Fine and Will Eisner, the Flame was one of the star attractions for Fox Features Syndicate, one of the scrappy publishers that battled for newsstand attention during the heady days of the Golden Age. Gary Preston was rescued by Tibetan lamas who trained him to control fire as his main power. When he achieved adulthood he returned to the USA and assumed the persona of the Flame. First appearing in Wonderworld Comics, the character was soon granted his own title which ran for eight issues before Fox was snuffed out of the comic marketplace.
