Chamber of Chills #19 achieved iconic status over this disturbing Lee Elias cover illustration. The enticingly haunting blonde soon became the stuff of legend to horror fans and Golden Age collectors, plus plenty of punk rockers after the Misfits swiped the art for a self-released single in 1984. The striking image (still featured on Misfits merchandise) continues to make this issue an enduring collectible for pre-Code horror fans — 70 years after the Senate Subcommittee on Juvenile Delinquency hearings that killed the title as Harvey Comics concentrated on the kiddie market!
