Highest GradedIn 1878 the Blackwell Durham Tobacco Company printed a giveaway to be distributed to promote tobacco usage to youngsters. The cover shows a teacher in a classroom setting teaching children about the value of tobacco. The interior even has a doctor recommending smoking tobacco after a hard days toil. Obviously this would never be allowed in today ÿýs modern world where the dangers of tobacco are commonly known and touted as much as the product itself. However, over 100 years ago this was no big deal. My, how times have changed & ÿýÿýThis is the earliest comic CGC has graded a 9.4. That's right, a CGC graded 9.4 from 1878, over 130 years old and in pretty-much-perfect-shape. According to the CGC census this is the highest graded copy in existence. The only reason this early Victorian comic book is in a green qualified holder is because CGC does not put cards into comic holders. The card is in great shape and is included with the book (see 2nd pic). Also please note, the info in the Overstreet Price Guide is incorrect, a 9.0 sold for $1,250 in 2008, NOT A 9.4.
