1st Green Hornet & Kato/1st Black Beauty
The Green Hornet was created by George W. Trendle and Fran Striker in the 1930s as a radio show on WXYZ in Detroit, Michigan. Brit Reid, the Green Hornet, is actually the nephew of the Lone Ranger, also created by Striker. Crime-fighting runs in the blood! The Green Hornet has appeared on radio, serials, a TV series with Van Williams and the legendary Bruce Lee as his faithful valet, Kato, and many comic books series of which this comic is the first. The cover sports a beautifully painted image of Green Hornet and Kato in their famed vehicle, the Black Beauty! The cover is thought to have been painted by classic pulp artist H.J. Ward.

This copy is from an original owner collection from upstate New York. The octagenarian collector bought all of his prized comics off the newsstand. Relatives of the collector were worried that he had thrown all his comics away years ago. After they recovered the comics it took five years to convince the owner to sell. He finally decided to due to health concerns. It was very important to him that the books find their way into a collection where they will be appreciated.
