Win Mortimer cover, Moldoff art; origin and 1st app. of Martian Manhunter (J'onn J'onzz) Comic Book Impact rating of 8 (CBI)
Detective Comics #225 doesn't feature the Martian Manhunter on the cover, but the book remains a classic collectible for the character making his humble debut as a backup story. J'onn J'onzz would later become the linchpin of the DC Universe, acting as the central figure in nearly every incarnation of the Justice League while becoming a fan favorite of the Silver, Bronze, and Copper Ages. It begins here with an unexpectedly tragic origin for one of the most compelling of galactic heroes, as created by unsung draftsman Joe Certa and freelance sci-fi writer Joseph Samachson. There's good reason that many collectors believe the DC Silver Age truly starts with this issue.
This is a great copy, with vivid yellows and a fine spine, ready to grace any world-class DC Silver Age collection.
