Old vs. New; Robert Kirkman pencils; 8.5" x 11"; 1998Robert Kirkman, known best for his creation of the mega hit Walking Dead series about what happens to human society in a post apocalyptic zombie infested world. Kirkman's creation has become the hottest comic property of the last 10 years. It spawned the mega popular TV series on AMC and the comic continues to sell strongly. Here we present art drawn by a younger Kirkman during his teen years with high school girlfriend Margaret Cloyd. From the Collection of Margaret Cloyd.Old "You're fatter!", New "I've got a better job!" and the battle begins. Kirkman's Old vs. New is reminiscent of an underground comic by Crumb or Pekar. Notice the character resembles Kirkman himself. Kirkman's stylized signature can be seen in the lower right hand corner of this whimsical piece.
