John Wise CollectionIt was obvious to everyone in the industry -- pulps were quickly dying, comics were the next big thing. Fawcett, with their newly named Whiz Comics, released, almost simultaneously, Master Comics, a powerful last hurrah for the tabloid-sized anthology comics that kickstarted the new industry. Fawcett started with a striking Harry Fiske cover and then filled its enormous pages with all manner of escapism. The publisher quickly sold through the print run. Because of their huge size, copies of this landmark were rarely saved in the numbers that more normal-sized comics were, leading to a great scarcity for this wonderful book.The huge proportions of the comic proved difficult to safely store making this incredibly preserved copy one of the most remarkably impossible finds of the auction. This NM Denver Copy is truly, one of the most charming, amazing, and incredible copies of any comic we've yet offered.
