Action Comics #51 boasts the first appearance of The Prankster, who'd become an unlikely super-nemesis to the Man of Steel. The playful psycho certainly echoed a beloved Batman villain with his arsenal of explosives and acid-squirting lapel flowers. DC had a lot of faith in the character from the start, with his debut in "The Case of the Crimeless Crimes" leading to the Prankster actually escaping Superman's clutches. (His stolen loot gets replaced with blank paper at super-speed, though.) The Prankster would bedevil Superman through the '50s, and has gone on to make plenty of small-screen appearances in various DC properties right through the present day.
