Gamora vs. X-23!
Dale Keown pencils and inks; variant cover; 2014; image size 11" x 17"
Gamora vs. X-23!This absolutely stunning piece of art was created by Dale Keown as a variant cover to issue #13 of Guardians of the Galaxy (2013), it depicts Gamora getting into a tussle with X-23. The issue revolves around the finale of the "Trial of Jean Grey" storyline, which finds the X-Men transported to the Guardians' timeline and forced to defend the actions of their friend and teammate, and the atrocities she committed while she was transformed into the Phoenix. The talented Canadian illustrated this memorable variant cover in 2014, and his obvious skill is on full display, the two warrior women facing off against a fiery background while they both brandish their weapons with intent. The amazing amount of detail and raw emotion jumping off this page is impressive. Guardians of the Galaxy fans, X-Men devotees, and collectors of Modern Age art will all be paying close attention to this brilliant cover. Pena nd ink w/ink wash and pencil tones. Art is in excellent condition. Signed by Keown.
