It had been 13 issues since writer Jerry Siegel and artist Bernard Baily introduced The Spectre. More Fun #65 found Baily still inspired to create classic covers for his otherworldly hero. This one offers a particularly dramatic perspective, with the Spectre reflected in all of his vengeful glory as two lowlifes react in shock to the ghostly hero.
The inner art boasts more of Baily's fine work as The Spectre stops the Blue Flame in "Dr. Mephisto." (The title character is a magician with a possible connection to the villain.) This classic Golden Age comic further features a particularly vicious Dr. Fate in the first telling of the oft-reprinted "The Fish-Men of Nyarl-Amen." There's also a full-page ad for the debut of World's Best Comics, which will become World's Finest Comics with its second issue.
