The beginning of the All Out War arc, at The Sanctuary Rick fires two shots demanding Negan come outThis double-page splash shows the beginning of the "All Out War" storyline introduced with this issue. No longer willing to abide by Negan and his brutal protection racket, Rick has put an army together combining the forces of the Kingdom, the Hilltop, and Alexandria communities. They have arrived outside Negan's stronghold, the Sanctuary, armed and ready for a showdown. Rick is shown at the head of the group, firing a gun in the air to call Negan out and give him a final chance to surrender. Behind him stand his cohorts, toting an assortment of guns and other weapons.
It's an impressive piece of artwork by Charlie Adlard, a group portrait featuring Ezekiel, Michonne, and many other Walking Dead characters, as well as a dramatic illustration of a key moment in the action. The figures are highly detailed, and the drawing includes production notes for the inker, so it's also an interesting look into the creative process.
