Armando Gil pencils, inks and signed; image size 9.75" x 15"While the series Master of Kung-Fu always dealt with pulp tropes such as Fu Manchu and Gangsters, the 70's fervor for martial arts played a huge role in the success of the run, but as the 80s began to take hold, Frank Miller's gritty, stylized Daredevil set the tone for Marvel's more adult-themed titles. The cover art for Master of Kung-Fu #121 is obviously influenced by the tenor of the times, and Armando Gil is tipping his hat to Miller's dark and menacing vision in this illustartion that just seeps noirish danger. This piece of art is definitely a Bronze Age treasure that should not be easily overlooked.
