Steve Ditko pencils and inks; page 2; 1964; image size 12.5" x 18"If there's a Ditko Spider-Man page with more heroes and villains on it, I'd like to see it. Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Kraven the Hunter, The Vulture, The Fantastic Four, The Avengers (Iron Man, Thor, Giant-Man, The Wasp, and Captain America), Daredevil (in his early black & yellow costume!), and even J. Jonah Jameson for good measure. Ditko Spidey pages are among the most sought-after in the hobby, and despite the lack of the title hero, this page is as good as they come, unmistakably Ditko with many of his signature flourishes. The content of the page is classic early Spider-Man, filled with the doubt and insecurity that was one of the hero's early trademarks. Pen and ink. Art is in very good condition, there are pin holes and a glue stain around a pasted up balloon in the second panel.
This represents one of the most unique pages in all of Ditko's 38 issues on the title, featuring characters that he drew very rarely, if ever. The Green Goblin four issues after his introduction, Kraven only three, not to mention the Fantastic Four, rarely drawn by Ditko after issue #1 and The Avengers, possibly the only time he drew this particular group. Pages like this don't come up for sale often making this an opportunity that shouldn't be overlooked.
