Matt Baker is considered to be one of the greatest artists of the late Golden Age, who was also one of the first black comic artists to work in the industry. Baker, who toiled in relative obscurity in his day, has become a cause célèbre to savvy modern collectors — not only for his historical significance, but for his remarkable talent that spanned the creation of classic covers for both horror and romance comics. Joe Doolin was an illustrator for pulp magazines like Weird Tales, Air War, Thrilling Adventures, Texas Rangers and Planet Stories from the 1920s throughout the 1940s. He worked as a comic book artist for Fiction House in the 1940s, drawing features like 'Auro', 'Captain Terry Thunder', 'Crash Barker', 'Mysta of the Moon', 'Rangers of Freedom', 'Suicide Smith' and 'Simba'.
Lubbers was an accomplished Big Band trombonist who studied art by day and played music at night five days a week, He started working in comics at Centaur, and after the war he began focusing on strip art, where he was known for his work on Tarzan, The Saint and Secret Agent X-9, he ended up at Marvel in the 70s before retiring.
