off white pgs; second highest 1 of 1!
scarce issue; war coverFormerly Detective Picture Stories, Keen Detective Funnies featured crime and detective characters (appropriately enough) such as the Clock, believed to be the first masked character created specifically for comic books; and the delirious the Eye, who rivalled the Spectre as the last word in Golden Age surrealism. The Lochlan Field design on this cover is in great condition, boasting a strong chromatic scheme that employs a military green motif and a thrilling action sequence. Wartime covers that predate America's entry into WWII are uncommon, as the US hadn't quite resolved to take a side in the conflict until the attack on Pearl Harbor. The F/VF grade on this book puts it at the second-highest example on the census, adding to the desirability of this classic comic.
