Spiderman vs. Frankenstein; COMIC BOOK IMPACT rating of 6 (CBI)"Once Upon a Time, in a Castle" Part 1 of 2. Guest-starring Spider-Man and the Frankenstein Monster. Script by Gerry Conway. Art by Sal Buscema (layouts) and Vince Colletta (finishes). Cover by Ed Hannigan and Mike Esposito. At some point in high school, Peter Parker probably read Mary Shelley's classic novel "Frankenstein." At no point though did Peter think he might someday team up with Victor Frankenstein's creation! But due to a strange series of events, the Amazing Spider-Man finds himself across the Atlantic Ocean, in the Balkans, and inside the castle of the evil Baron von Shtupf...with only one friend by his side: the Frankenstein monster!
Artists Information
John Romita was one of the driving forces behind Marvel's Silver Age, first taking up the reins on Amazing Spider-Man following the departure of Steve Ditko with issue #38. Romita's long run on Spider-Man would include the introduction of classic characters such as Mary Jane Watson, the Kingpin and many others. He would be a major contributor to the entire Marvel line throughout the 1970s — including designing the look of The Punisher. Romita's influence has since been felt for decades, including the emergence of John Romita, Jr. as one of the industry's top illustrators.
Sal Buscema is an American comics artist, primarily for Marvel Comics, where he had a ten-year run as artist of The Incredible Hulk and an eight-year run as artist of The Spectacular Spider-Man. He is the younger brother of comics artist John Buscema.
Ed Hannigan is an American comics artist, writer, and editor for both Marvel Comics and DC Comics. Worked on titles The Defenders and Cloak and Dagger.
