Highest GradedThere's debate among collectors over whether Matt Baker made any contributions to this penultimate issue of Phantom Lady. Whoever did the job, however, carefully rendered these pages in the classic Baker style. Jack Kamen's stunning cover definitely echoes the high standards set by Baker, and there's plenty of cheesecake to go around for collectors of Good Girl art from the Golden Age. This issue also continues the tradition of an empowered female heroine stopping bizarre crimes (in the stories here, going up against a robot monster and a team of bad guys showing off their sports skills).
Graded at the top of the census, this is the one and only NM+ copy of Phantom Lady #22 known to the marketplace. There are only the slightest of imperfections on this cover, and that is no small feat given its seventy-year existence.
Overstreet Guide 2019 NM- (9.2) value = $3,700.

Jack Kamen was an American illustrator for books, magazines, comic books and advertising, known for his work illustrating crime, horror, humor, suspense and science fiction stories for EC Comics, for his work in advertising, and for the onscreen artwork he contributed to the 1982 horror anthology film Creepshow.
