Steve Ditko cover/art; origin & 1st app of the Lizard (Doctor Curtis Connors) COMIC BOOK IMPACT rating of 8 (CBI)
This early entry in the classic Lee/Ditko run on Amazing Spider-Man is a beloved collectible for the introduction of The Lizard--who would also be the first of several villains with an animalistic origin. In this instance, scientist Curt Connors create a serum that would help him regrow his missing arm, based on his research into lizards regenerating body parts. The good news is that the arm grows back; the bad news is that Connors is now a crazed lizard out to conquer the world.

The classic Stan Lee/Steve Ditko also does much to set up the Spider-Man mythos. J. Jonah Jameson brings photographer Peter Parker to Florida to get shots of Spidey battling the Lizard. That puts our hero in a real pickle to get the pics which JJJ will later only shred in frustration. Throw in that classic cover, and you have a top investment in the Spider-Man collectible category.
This is one of the second-highest graded copies of ASM #6 on the census, and it is obvious that this is one of the nicest examples of this book ever printed. The color strike and centering are immaculate, the corners are clean and the spine is rigid. The classic Ditko cover image glows with an effervescence that reveals subtle tones of green and purple which stand out in perfect contrast to the intentionally drab background. A consistently popular issue, this copy is a real gem that will be sure to draw the attention of Spidey fans come auction time.

Overstreet Guide 2020 NM- (9.2) value = $5,800.
