Al Feldstein pencils and inks; pg 2; first Feldstein crime story at EC!; 1948; image size 13" x 18"Page 3 from the story 'Double-Crossed', which, according to Feldstein's biography "Al Feldstein; Mad Life..." was, in addition to being his first crime comic at E.C., was also the first E.C. story he wrote! Classic pre-code crime stuff here, with Feldstein's unmistakable drawing. Pen and ink. Art is in excellent condition.
Al Ferldstein was one of the key figures of the E.C. Comics 'New Trend' line of Crime and Horror comics in the 1950's, including Weird Science, Weird Fantasy, Tales from the Crypt, The Haunt of Fear, The Vault of Horror, Shock SuspenStories and Crime SuspenStories, he was the editor on the bulk of the books and wrote many of the stories in addition to illustrating his fair share. When Harvey Kurtzman left E.C. Feldstein took over the helm of Mad Magazine, a position he would hold for 29 years.
