DESCRIPTION
Dick Ayers pencils/Romeo Tanghal inks; The Deserter; pg 11; 1978; image size 10" x 15"Great page by Ayers and Tanghal, intended for Showcase #107 but not used because of the titles cancellation, the story ended up in the infamous Cancelled Comics Cavalcade #1. Pen and ink. Art is in excellent condition.

Richard "Dick" Ayers was an American comic book artist and cartoonist best known for his work as one of the main inkers during the late-1950's and 1960's Silver Age of Comics, including some of the earliest issues of Marvel Comics' including Jack Kirby's The Fantastic Four. He is the signature penciler of Marvel's World War II comic Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos, drawing it for a 10-year run, and he co-created Magazine Enterprises' 1950s Western-horror character the Ghost Rider, a version of which he would draw for Marvel in the 1960s. His career would span 7 decades until his death in 2014.
Filipino artist Romeo Tanghal started working in comics after graduating high school. He emigrated to the United States in 1976 where he drew short stories for DC's House of Mystery, House of Secrets, and Weird War Tales. He later became the inker on such features as Super Friends, Scalphunter, and Gravedigger. In 1980, Tanghal became the inker of George Pérez's pencils for The New Teen Titans. Tanghal began working for Marvel Comics in 1986, working on their series of 80s movie adaptations.
